2021 Season Information

Hi all,
Below is the information we currently have surrounding the 2021 Season with a focus on the Juniors, Senior info will be provided at a later time, there is a fair bit to digest here so if you have any questions please leave a comment or email president@merimbuladiggers.com.au
The dates\info mentioned are definite unless noted otherwise.

Junior Age Groups
This year will see an adjustment of the age groups made by the league to better facilitate transition throughout the junior grades and ultimately to senior football for both Male & Female players, and to bring us more in line with other leagues eg Representative Football.

You will notice that U15s is Male only and not mixed, this is due to a National AFL Policy that prohibits mixed football at this age group, this is obviously outside of the clubs control being a national AFL policy.
Youth Girls has been implemented to bridge this gap and create a pathway for these players going forward and enable a smoother transition to Senior Women’s grade.
This will no doubt affect some current players, but will allow a greater opportunity for development and participation.

For clarity, a Female player turning 13 in 2021 will be eligible for both U13s and Youth Girls whereas a Female player turning 14 in 2021 will only be eligible for Youth Girls.

The Age Groups are as follows:
U11s-Mixed
U13s-Mixed
U15s-Male Only
U15s Youth Girls – Female Only
U17s-Male Only

U15s Youth Girls “Come and try” Session:
We will be holding a “Come and try” session for all youth girls on Thursday 18th March, this will consist of a training session followed by a BBQ with club people on hand to answer any questions you may have. We would love to see as many as possible there so spread the word! More details as we get closer.

Junior Rego\Rego Night:
Junior registration fee will remain at $100 for the season, we will also have a Rego night including a BBQ and info session on Thursday 1st April.

Junior Training:
U13s,15s,17s – Tuesday 23rd March
U11s + Youth Girls – Thursday 25th March

Season Start: RD1 starts Saturday 17th April, we do not have a draw as yet.

Auskick:

Looking For:
The Diggers are a club run by volunteers and we are always looking for more help.
Currently we are looking for interest in the following:
Coaches – U13s, Youth Girls & U17s
Time Keepers – Junior & Senior Grades
First Aid – Junior & Senior Grades
All training and information is provided and paid for by the club, so if you are interested in these or any other position don’t be afraid to ask! We would love to have more help.
